It's many a homemaker's dream to be able to make Asian food for their family to enjoy, instead of having to resort to ordering takeout. Of course, delivery is fine, but nothing beats the satisfaction of putting together a successful home-cooked meal, especially when that recipe is particularly uncommon. This slow cooker Mongolian beef recipe will allow you to manage something really different while making very little effort – and using very few utensils. Here are the ingredients you'll need:
2.5-lb flank steak
1/4 cup cornstarch
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp minced garlic
1 tbsp grated ginger
1/4 tsp chili flakes
3/4 cup soy sauce
3/4 cup water
3/4 cup packed brown sugar

Start by prepping the steak. Slice it thinly, going against the grain.
Next, relocate the steak slices into a large zip-close bag and pour cornstarch all over them. Seal the bag and spread the cornstarch around so the meat is as covered as possible. Framed Cooks explains this will allow for your meat to be as moisture-free as possible and achieve optimal cooking.
Directly in your slow cooker, pour in chili flakes, minced garlic, brown sugar, grated ginger, olive oil, soy sauce and water. Stir until well mixed.
Add in the steak slices and make sure the sauce is carefully applied to the meat.
Cover your slow cooker and set it to cook on high for 2 to 3 hours.
About half an hour before the meat is done cooking, add in the grated carrots and stir.
You can add green onions and sesame seeds, or any other garnish you deem appropriate, to the final result – a meal as delicious as it is beautiful. Serve with rice for pure perfection.
