Finding that perfect side dish to bring to a dinner party can be a tough task, especially when time is of the essence. You don't want a recipe that requires you to be in the kitchen for hours, nor do you want one that requires a complex list of ingredients. You also have to factor in the amount of people that will be at the function. 
So, what's a relatively cheap side dish that folks will enjoy and won't put a dent in your wallet? Fear not, partygoers, the recipe below fits your needs. It's a cheesy potato casserole, or, as he refers to it, a "Party Potato Bake."

Potato and bacon bake
Preparation time: 20 minutes
Total time: 45 minutes
Serves: 4-6
Ingredients
3 pounds potatoes, peeled and sliced
18 ounces bacon, diced
18 ounces cheese, grated
2 cups heavy cream
1 medium brown onion, sliced
1 teaspoon salt 
1/2 teaspoon pepper
2-3 garlic cloves, minced
Directions
1. To begin, preheat your oven to 350° F (175° C) and boil your potatoes for about 20 minutes. (They don't need to be completely cooked.) While you boil the potatoes, sautée the bacon and onions in a medium-size pan. 
2. Slice the potatoes and pack them into your slightly greased 9x13 baking dish.
3. Next, add the sautéed bacon and onions and sprinkle some cheese on top.

4. In getting the desired consistency of the dish, the sauce is essential. In a saucepan, combine heavy cream and garlic and warm it up, stirring occasionally. Season with salt and pepper and pour it over the potatoes.
5. Stick the dish in the oven at 350° F for 45 minutes. Serve and enjoy!
