Cleaning the kitchen is one of the most dreaded tasks of any homeowner because we all know how downright messy and grimy this room can get. Another problem when cleaning the kitchen is dealing with all the harsh chemicals inside the cleaning products that are going to bring your kitchen back to life.
Vlogger Rachel Talbott reminds us, however, that there're cheap and organic solutions that will clean just about any and everything in your messy kitchen: vinegar, baking soda, lemon, and essential oils.

Check out the list below for the top 4 ways to use vinegar, baking soda and other simple household ingredients to clean up and sanitize your messy kitchen.
1. Refrigerator deodorizer
In a small bowl, mix together some lemon essential oil with baking soda. This duo is going to refresh your entire refrigerator by absorbing any nasty smells.
Expert tip: place the bowl in a spot out of the way so you don't accidentally knock it over. And remember to change out the bowl weekly.
2. Dishwasher cleaner
Just because your dishwasher is a cleaning machine doesn't mean it doesn't need a cleaning of its own. Talbott says you should take a mug or glass measuring cup and fill it up with vinegar, place it on the top shelf of your dishwasher, and run the machine on a normal cycle. Afterward, it's going to look good as new!
3. Cutting board cleanup
Over time cutting boards get stained, smelly, and dirty. Talbott says one of the easiest ways to clean up your cutting board and disinfect it is by rubbing coarse salt into the board with a cut in half lemon. This combo is going to lift up and out any germs, smells, or leftover food - as well as disinfect.
Expert tip: After a clean, your cutting board might look dull. Normally, experts like those at Cutting Board would tell you to refinish it with mineral oil - as other oils have fats in them that will spoil. Cutting Board and Talbott agree though that using coconut oil won't spoil and is more environmentally friendly for making your board vibrant again.
4. Sink cleanser
Your sink handles just about everything you throw at it. So to give it a proper cleaning, Talbot suggests mixing up another batch of baking soda and essential oil (like you did for the refrigerator) but this time dumping it in the sink, and drizzling some dish soap on top. Scrub with a metal sponge and your sink will look shiny, bright and new.
Expert tip: clean your sink like this every day. Your sink handles a lot of grime, so keeping it clean is important! Plus, this cleaning concoction only takes seconds to whip together.
