Many men and women prefer a gel lubricant for a close shave these days, but there is something to be said for good old-fashioned shaving cream. In addition to its pleasantly clean smell and creamy texture, it has many other uses around the home.
Consider these tips the next time you see a sale on shaving cream -- you may want to stock up!
1. Remove stains
Clothing or carpet stains can be removed by covering with shaving cream after wiping away excess mess. Rub in thoroughly, and let dry. Wipe away the shaving cream with a wet towel and launder or vacuum normally.

2. Fog-proof
Rub shaving cream onto your glasses, car windshield or bathroom mirror, then wipe off with a dry cloth -- they'll stay fog-free and clear for at least a week!
3. Shine fixtures
Shaving cream will clean and buff your chrome or stainless steel fixtures to a bright shine; simply rub on and wipe off!
4. Clean oven
This tip came from Fluster Buster's request for household tips from the 1940s -- spray the inside of the oven with shaving cream and use a scouring pad to scrub it clean. Rinse well.
5. Clean jewelry
Use shaving cream with a soft toothbrush or cloth to give it a good cleaning and polish.
6. Fix squeaky hinges
Simply rub shaving cream into a hinge to get rid of that annoying noise.
7. Remove nail polish from hands
Messy manicure? Wash your hands with shaving cream to remove polish from hands without the risk of handling nail polish remover.
8. Break in baseball mitt
Fill the inside of the mitt with shaving cream, and insert a baseball. Use rubber bands to hold the mitt around the ball and let it sit for several hours before wiping clean.
