Combine cherry pie filling and 4 other ingredients for the easiest slow cooker treat

Print this recipe
Have you ever made dessert in the slow cooker? What I love about desserts in the slow cooker is that they are warm and gooey, instead of room-temperature desserts like cake and cookies.
These brownies are easy to make. You use a box mix but swap out the oil for butter to make it even better. Top the brownies with canned cherry pie filling, and put the lid back on so the cherries get warmed up. This dessert is so easy to start right before dinner, and it will be ready in time for dessert. It's great for parties!

Of course, you could put any pie filling on top of these brownies, but I like cherry the best.
Slow-cooker warm cherry brownies
Preparation time: 15 minutes
Total time: 2 hours 30 minutes
Serves: 6
Ingredients
1 (18.3 ounces) fudge brownie mix
2 eggs
3 tablespoons water
½ cup melted butter
½ cup semisweet chocolate chips
1 (21 ounces) can cherry pie filling
Directions
1. In a large bowl, mix together the brownie mix, eggs, water and melted butter.
2. Spray a 6-quart oval slow cooker with nonstick spray. Spread the brownie batter evenly in the slow cooker. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
3. Cover and cook on high for 2 hours and 15 minutes. Watch it carefully toward the end. If the brownies start to get dark on one edge, make sure the insert isn't ajar; this can cause one side to darken faster than the rest of the brownies.
4. After the brownies are done cooking, spread the cherry pie filling on top. Put the lid back on and let the cherry pie filling warm up. This takes about 10 minutes.

Pro tip: Use any pie filling you like! Strawberry or raspberry would be good.
