Is your metal sink a sight for sore eyes, blotched and spotted with hard water stains and lime buildup? Have you tried time and time again to scrub the ugly away? We have news for you. You've probably been doing it wrong. IdunnGoddess shows us the absolute best method for ridding a sink of hard water stains. Begin by pouring boiling water over the surface. Sprinkle with critic acid over a single section and let sit for just 10 seconds. Next, use a sponge to clean. Repeat, covering each and every surface of the metal sink.
If you don't have citric acid at home, you may benefit from these cleaning tricks from Do It Yourself. One of the favored methods is to let the metal sink soak in a white vinegar bath for up to 1 hour. Then, use a firm brush and sponge to scrub away at stains. You can also use a razor blade to chip away at the stain, though Do It Yourself warns not to chip the metal surface itself.

If your faucet needs a little TLC, heed the advice of Common Sense Home and follow this DIY home remedy. Unscrew the removable filter at the end of the faucet. You may be surprised to see quite a lot of build-up. This is normal and can easily be cleaned using an old toothbrush. To remove calcium build-up, submerge the filter in hot (but not yet boiling) white vinegar. You will see it begin to bubble. Let the vinegar do its job, and after it ceases bubbling, clean up the filter with a toothbrush under running water.
