It's easy to fall into a breakfast rut with cereal and on-the-go bars. However, what if you want something a little more significant or presentable? Thai Tricks offers some great egg dish tricks, including the popular, "egg in a hole," "egg with a hat" or other names for eggs in fried bread.
The video - which has been viewed half a million times - finds a clever use for an old water or soda bottle to help with this task. By cutting the bottle at its widest part past the neck, you have a perfect sized die to cut bread a large enough opening without further tearing of your bread. This long-time favorite breakfast dish has a lengthy history. According to Eater, an entry for "egg with a hat" appeared in the 1890s Boston Cooking School Cookbook by Fannie Farmer. This recipe used a two-inch cookie cutter to make the hole in the bread. As cookie cutters aren't quite as common these days, Thai Trick's bottle top makes an excellent substitution.
