Turn leftover hamburger buns into a slow cooker favorite

I’ve always wondered why hamburger buns come in packs of eight. Sometimes I’m making barbecue for a crowd, but most often I’m just making enough for my husband and myself. We will have two sandwiches for dinner and two sandwiches the next day for lunch. What am I supposed to do with the extra four buns?
Luckily, slow cooker French toast is an easy and delicious way to repurpose your leftovers. If you don’t have leftover buns, you can make this recipe with any bread you have lying around (I've made this recipe with leftover zucchini bread — yum!). Dunk your bread in the delicious cinnamon and vanilla batter, set the slow cooker to low and wake up the next morning to a ready-to-eat breakfast. It couldn’t be easier than that!
