Cleaning out the oven is one of those chores that most people avoid and dislike having to do. Gunk can build up on the sides, bottom and glass of the oven over time. Tackling this cleaning project does not have to involve large amounts of chemical cleaners. Here are five ways you can clean your oven naturally and with fewer hassles.
1. Stock up on baking soda and vinegar
After you remove your oven racks, apply a mixture of 1/2 cup of baking soda and a few tablespoons of water. Make a medium-thick paste. Coat the entire surface of your oven with the paste and make sure to really rub it in. Allow the baking soda to sit overnight before wiping off as much of the dried baking soda as you can. Then spritz the oven with a little vinegar and let the foam settle before wiping it out with a damp cloth. You may need to repeat the vinegar spritz a few times.

2. Clean your oven racks with dryer sheets
Cleaning oven racks can be a bit of a pain, make it a little easier by placing a layer of dryer sheets on the bottom of the tub. Place your oven racks on top of the dryer sheets and add hot water just to cover the racks and 1/2 cup of dish soap. Allow the racks to soak overnight before scrubbing them down with the wet dryer sheets.
3. Bake it off
You'll need vinegar, water, baking soda and heat for this trick. Mix baking soda with a few tablespoons of water. Then add a few tablespoons of vinegar. Allow the vinegar and baking soda to bubble and then use a sponge to apply the mixture to the dirtiest parts of your oven. Place the bowl filled with your leftover mixture on the top rack in your oven at bake at 100 degrees for about an hour. Use a sponge to wipe all the grime away.

4. Make your own oven cleaner
Make a paste from 1/4 cup of castile soap, 1 cup of baking soda, 1/2 cup coarse sea salt and a little warm water to create a paste. Apply this paste liberally to the inside of your oven and let it set for as long as possible. Then use a wet sponge to wash away the soap mixture. When the paste is removed completely, use spritz a bit of vinegar into the oven to remove any lingering odors and to remove any excess paste.

5. Get the burners clean too
The stove top can get just as nasty as the inside of your stove! Save yourself a little soreness from scrubbing by placing your burner grates and drip pans into a zipper bag filled with 1/4 cup of ammonia. Seal the bag and let your burners and pans soak overnight before wiping clean and rinsing.
