1. Organization bins (h/t The Country Chic Cottage)
When you're trying to find storage bins that won't stand out too much in a room, it seems impossible to find the number you need that all match each other and the theme of your room. If you're dealing with that sort of situation, buy however many bins you need from the dollar store and pick up some white spray paint as well. You can cover any color with the white paint and then finish up with a metallic spray paint.
2. Magazine holders (h/t The Pinning Mama)
The cabinet under your bathroom sink usually ends up as a storage place for anything you can shove under there. But then you can never find what you need without emptying out the entire cabinet. Pick up a few magazine holders from the dollar store and use them to hold the items you used to just toss in the cabinet. These holders are especially perfect for storing toilet paper.
3. S hooks and baskets (h/t DIY Energy)
Most closets don't have enough space to begin with, so what little room they have shrinks rapidly as you accumulate more clothes and accessories. Instead of knocking down a wall to increase your closet space, head to the dollar store and grab some s hooks and baskets. Hang the hooks from shelves or tension rods and hang the baskets from the hooks. You can use these baskets for laundry, clothes or anything that fits inside.
4. Refrigerator bins (h/t The Domestic Geek Blog)
Keeping your refrigerator organized will help you find food items more quickly, which will cut down on the amount of time you spend with the door propped open while you search for something to eat. With the help of a few smaller bins from the dollar store, you can store foods that belong together in the same place, prevent small food items from getting lost behind other things in the fridge and keep all of your condiments in one place.
5. Drawer bins (h/t Handy Man, Crafty Woman)
Do you have a junk drawer in your house? You know, the one filled with coupons, scissors, twist ties and various other things that just don't belong anywhere else? If you do, then you need to know how easy it is to organize that drawer. Just buy a few bins small enough to fit in the drawer and separate the items in the drawer to store with similar items.
6. Can organization (h/t My Uncommon Slice of Suburbia)
Have you ever noticed how much space cans take up? And if you try to stack them on top of each other to fit in more, you inevitably end up knocking over several of them in the process. Try to organize your cans with baskets from the dollar store. That way, you can keep the same types of cans together, making them easier to find and they won't take up too much space.
7. File boxes
Trying to keep your hair products, flat irons, curling irons and brushes organized can be a hassle, especially if you don't have extra storage space in your bathroom. A quick fix for this problem is to grab a file box from the dollar store. Hook it to the wall by the sink or to the side of your vanity cabinet and use it to store your hair-related supplies. Now they're out of the way but still easy to reach.
8. Upgraded trash can (h/t Two It Yourself)
Trash cans aren't just used for throwing away things you no longer need. You can also use them for storage or as a make-shift laundry basket if necessary. But you don't want it look like a regular, dollar store, wire trash can if you're using it for another purpose. All you need is a spool or rope and a hot glue gun. Wrap the rope around the trash can and add glue every few inches. Before you know it, you'll have your very own rope basket.
9. Magnetic toy storage (h/t Dollar Store Crafts)
If you have kids, then you know how often they misplace their smaller toys. You can solve this problem (and save your bare feet) with magnets and a few cheap, dollar store pizza pans. If the toys are already equipped with magnets, then you're already halfway finished. If they're not, then you'll have to glue a small magnet onto each one. Then paint your pizza pans in a way that fits the theme of the room and hang them up at a height your kids can reach. Now, when it's time to clean up their toys, they can stick them to the pans instead of leaving them all over the floor.
10. Magnetic spice rack (h/t Instructables)
Your kids aren't the only ones who can benefit from magnets. You can also use magnets to organize your spices. Instead of leaving spice containers strewn across the counter or shoved in a cupboard somewhere, line them up in small dollar store baskets. Glue magnets to the back of the baskets and then stick them to the side of the refrigerator.
