1. Use a foam brush to dust small spaces
Foam craft brushes are just the right size for dusting small spaces. They easily squeeze into tight places and their sponge texture traps dirt and helps pull it out. Car vents, household vents, and even the vents in your bathroom exhaust will all benefit from this handy dusting tip.

2. Grab a coffee filter for tight places
Coffee filters work well for dusting because of their lint-free nature. The stiff form allows you to maneuver it around tight places, such as car vents, to get every spec of dust. This inexpensive cleaning tool can also be used to dust mirrors, electronic screens and other areas you wish to be lint-free.

3. Put down the feather duster
Feather dusters may be fun, but they are not efficient dusters. Instead of picking up dust, they simply spread it around and throw it into the air. Instead of using a feather duster, stick to a slightly damp microfiber cloth. This grabs the dust and keeps it from the air and your lungs.

4. Mix up your own DIY dusting spray
Don't put wax on your furniture and chemicals in the air with commercial dusting sprays. Mix up your own DIY dusting spray that is safe for the air and safe for surfaces. Add 1 cup of distilled water, 2 tsp castile soap, 1 tbsp olive oil, and 3 drops lemon essential oil to a spray bottle. Shake gently and spray on a cleaning cloth.

5. Grab a dryer sheet
Baseboards, bookshelves and the other areas you don't have time to dust frequently can all stay dust free much longer if you simply grab a dryer sheet from your laundry room. It will easily remove stubborn dust while adding a a static-free protection. Dust and hair won't be drawn to the area.

6. Reduce the amount of dust blowing around
When was the last time you cleaned the HVAC vents and duct work? If dust has built up inside the system, you may be simply blowing it into your home. To reduce dust in your home, replace the air filter as needed and give the air vents a good cleaning once a month. If you've never cleaned the duct work, you may find a professional cleaning is a good investment.

7. Keep dust contained
Dusting ceiling fans is always a nasty job. The dust falls all over you and the floor. Keep that dust contained by using an old pillowcase. Slip it over the fan blade. The top will gently remove the dust while the case catches the falling dust.
