Mold is a major problem for several reasons. It looks gross, it smells bad and it can cause some health issues if you let it spread for too long. Even if you take care to keep your house clean, areas that tend to collect water (bathrooms, kitchens, laundry rooms) can still end up with mold.
Fortunately, mold isn't actually terribly difficult to eliminate. Most of the time you can clear away mold with a few common household items. So whether you're a fan of baking soda or vinegar or if you want to try something new, check out a few simple ways to wipe away mold spores.
1. Baking soda
Baking soda is probably one of the most common items you have in your house, so it only makes sense to try it first. Combine 1 cup of baking soda with 1 cup of water and stir to make a paste. Pour this paste over the areas affected by mold and let it dry. Wipe up the dried paste with a clean cloth and watch the mold disappear.
2. Vinegar and borax
Vinegar is one of those household items that can be used for just about anything, and cleaning up mold is just one more way to use it. Add 1/2 a cup of vinegar and 1/4 a cup of borax to 1 cup of warm water and stir until the borax dissolves completely. Pour this mixture into a spray bottle, shake well and spray all over the moldy spots. Use the soft side of a sponge to scrub the area until the mold is gone.
3. Hydrogen peroxide
If you're looking for a cleaning solution that involves no mixing of ingredients, then this is your best bet. Squirt a decent amount of hydrogen peroxide over the area affected by mold. This is not the time to be stingy; really soak the area. Let it set for 10 minutes before scrubbing the area with a dry paper towel to get rid of the mold.
4. Tea tree oil
Like vinegar, tea tree oil doesn't give off the most pleasant smell, but that doesn't make it any less effective. Stir 1 tablespoon of tea tree oil into 1 cup of water. Pour this mixture into a spray bottle, spray it over the mold and leave it on overnight. In the morning, use a dry paper towel to wipe away the remaining mold.
5. Grape seed extract
Not everyone has grape seed extract on hand, but if you happen to have some it makes both a great dietary supplement and an effective mold remover. Mix 2 teaspoons of grape seed extract into 2 cups of water and pour into a spray bottle. Spray liberally over the moldy sections and immediately pat dry with a clean cloth until the mold disappears.

I like to shop for clothes as much as the next girl (except when I don't because I can't find anything that fits). Still, buying a new wardrobe can be expensive.
