When you're looking for a new dinner recipe tonight, think Southern! This Coca-Cola glazed ham is a Southern treat that can be eaten for any family or holiday meal. A whole bone-in ham is marinated in brown sugar, dijon mustard, fresh oranges, and Coca-Cola, and baked in an oven-safe bag until the meat is tender, and the soda has formed a sweet and sticky glaze all over the ham.
While you may have the option of purchasing a spiral cut ham, the recipe below calls for a traditional cured ham. Spiral cut ham will become dry and tough if you cook it for hours, but this ham becomes juicy, sweet, and perfect to be sliced or cut into ham steaks. This recipe is great for a large holiday or celebratory meal, since one ham can feed many people!

Sweet-n-Sticky Coca-Cola Glazed Ham

3 hrs
1 10-12 lb cured ham
⅓ cup dijon mustard
½ cup brown sugar
12 oz (one can) Coca-Cola
1 orange, cut into 6 wedges
1 large oven-safe bag
Preheat the oven to 350°
Using a sharp pairing knife, score the skin of the ham in a diamond pattern, cutting about ¼" down under the skin, into the fat.
Place the ham on its side inside the oven bag, and place the bag inside a large roasting dish. Keep the bag open wide so you are able to get your hands inside easily.
In a small bowl, combine the dijon mustard and brown sugar until well blended. Rub the sugar/mustard mixture all over the ham until fully coated.
Place the orange wedges inside the bag around the ham.
Pour the Coca-Cola into the bag around the ham.
Seal up the bag, but make sure the sides of the bag are not touching the ham.
Cut three small slits in the top of the bag to allow for ventilation during cooking. *If you do not do this step, the bag may burst.*
Place the roasting dish in the oven, and allow the ham to cook inside the bag for about 2 hours 30 minutes. As you approach the end of cooking time, check to make sure the skin is nicely browned and caramelized.
After cooking, carefully remove the roasting dish from the oven, and allow the ham to rest inside the bag for an additional 20 minutes.
Remove ham from the bag and discard the bag. Carve ham as desired and serve warm.
Pro-tip: Do not pour the Coca-Cola directly onto the ham, as that will wash off the sugar/mustard mixture.
Pro-tip: Make this dish a meal by serving it with homemade mashed potatoes and a green salad.
