Imagine the sweet and smoky flavors of your favorite BBQ sauce with a warm cinnamon kick at the end—that's what you get with a splash of good ol' Fireball whisky. It's the perfect twist for your next family cookout or a cozy indoor dinner. This sauce has a way of bringing a bit of excitement to your regular barbecue dishes, and I'm pretty sure it's going to be a new favorite at your table, especially when you're looking to warm things up a notch.
This Fireball BBQ Sauce is mighty versatile. It's absolutely delicious slathered on some grilled chicken or pulled pork sandwiches. Fireball BBQ Sauce
Servings: Makes about 2 cups
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of your favorite barbecue sauce
- 1/2 cup Fireball Cinnamon Whisky
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- A pinch of cayenne pepper (optional for extra heat)
Directions:
1. In a medium saucepan, combine the barbecue sauce, Fireball whisky, and apple cider vinegar. Give it a good stir to get things mixed together.
2. Add the brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, ground black pepper, and the pinch of cayenne if you're using it.
3. Place the saucepan over medium heat. Let the mixture come to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally.
4. Once simmering, reduce the heat to low and let it cook for about 10-15 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened up nicely and the flavors have melded together. Be sure to stir it every so often, so nothing sticks or burns.
5. Take the sauce off the heat and allow it to cool a bit before using. It's going to smell so good, but try to let it set a few minutes — it's worth the wait!
Variations & Tips:
- For a smoother sauce, blend with an immersion blender or in a blender until it reaches your desired consistency. Remember to be careful when blending hot liquids.
- This sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week. Just make sure it's in a well-sealed container.
- If there are wee ones at the table or you're not a fan of a strong whisky taste, go ahead and reduce the amount of Fireball to 1/4 cup for a milder flavor.
- And for those who have a gluten sensitivity, check the labels on your ingredients to make sure they're gluten-free. Worcestershire sauce especially can be a sneaky one.
