Variations & Tips
For a dairy-free version, substitute almond milk or coconut milk for the milk and heavy cream. If you have a nut allergy, you can omit the nuts or replace them with chocolate chips for a sweet twist. For a more decadent version, add a layer of cream cheese between the bread slices. You can also experiment with different types of bread, such as brioche or challah, for a richer flavor. To make it more kid-friendly, consider adding a sprinkle of mini marshmallows on top during the last hour of cooking.
