Before you ask: no, the frosting is not actual frosting. Rather, it's piped mashed potatoes (or sweet potatoes, per
Wellness Mama's recipe), maybe with a few drops of food coloring mixed in to sell the illusion even more.
To begin, simply whip up a batch of meatloaf. Any recipe will do, but if you want one specifically tailored for this particular dish,
Karen Steinke Reilly has submitted hers to Allrecipes. You'll need:
1 pound of ground beef
1 cup of crushed saltine crackers
1/2 cup of chopped onion
1/2 cup of chopped green bell pepper
1/3 cup of milk
1 egg
1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
2 cloves of chopped garlic
1 teaspoon of ground black pepper
1 teaspoon of seasoned salt
1/2 cup of ketchup
1/2 cup of brown sugar
4 cups of mashed potatoes
1 cup of shredded Cheddar cheese
crumbled bacon and cherry tomatoes as garnish
food coloring (optional)
