Cooktop Cove: Putting together a chicken and waffle casserole
By Henry Cannon
It may sound like an odd combination, but the pairing of fried chicken and waffles is truly something amazing. Have it for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, just don't forget to smother it in syrup. If that's not to your liking, sprinkle on a bit of cheese. If you've never tried this sweet-savory treat, what are you waiting for?
Blogger and DIYer Elizabeth, the brains behind Frugal Mom Eh!, put her own spin on the classic chicken and waffle dish. She used the same components, but in order to make the dish easier to serve to a group of people, she turned it into a casserole.
After breading and cooking bits of chicken, she lines the casserole pan with waffles. Then she adds the chicken and sprinkles on some cheese. Then she repeats this process: pieces of waffles, chicken, cheese.
The dish bakes at 325 degrees Fahrenheit for about 50 minutes. For the full recipe, you can check out Elizabeth's blog here. How good does that look?
