Whether you need to preserve an abundance of rosemary, basil, sage, thyme or oregano, all you need is a an ice tray and bottle of olive oil. By placing chopped herbs in the tray dividers and freezing in olive oil to make cubes, you create frozen flavorful gems that can store for up to six months.
The video blogger suggest that you allow the herb-oil cubes to freeze in the tray at least overnight before transferring to a plastic freezer bag for storage. These cubes work great as a fast melting sauté starter or a quick add into sauces.
In addition to boosting flavor without adding salts or preservative-filled seasonings, herbs also play a part in a healthy diet. According to the Washington Post
, many herbs are high in vitamins A, C and K.
