If you have kids or pets, or you just happen to be spill-prone, having a microfiber cloth couch can be a life saver. The budget-friendly material looks and feels a bit like suede, but it's much more water and stain resistant, so it holds up well. But, that doesn't mean they don't get dirty or stained ever (especially if you have kids or pets).

No matter how carefully you treat your furniture, you'll still need to clean the fabric every so often to keep it looking and smelling fresh. Check out these ideas for keeping your microfiber furniture looking like new.

*Professional tip: Look on the tag attached to your furniture. There should be a letter code near the cleaning instructions. You'll have a W, S, S-W or X. W means you can use any water-based cleaning solution. S means you need to use solvent-based cleaner, S-W means you can use solvent or water based cleaners and X means vacuum only. It's important to look for this code so you don't accidentally ruin your furniture, according to One Good Thing by Jillee.

1. Try rubbing alcohol or clear alcohol (like vodka)
Rubbing alcohol works on fabrics like polyester and some microfibers without damaging the material. Spray the alcohol directly on the stained areas of your coach and use a cloth to blot the stains away.

2. Baby wipes:
For a quick clean (right after a spill), grab a baby wipe and blot the mess away, according to Better Homes and Gardens.

3. Use a Norwex Enviro cloth: 
This specialty cloth is made from polyester and nylon fibers like those microfiber couches are made from. These fibers help grab the surface dirt on microfiber couches. GiggleBlogBox posted her results after using the cloth on her dirty couch. After dipping the cloth into a bowl of clean water she scrubbed each cushion and let it air dry. The couch came out very clean, no chemicals needed. You'll spend about $17 for the product. They are reusable.

4. Laundry soap
If your couch allows for water, use a damp cloth and some gentle laundry detergent to clean any stains. Remember, only blot your couch with a damp cloth (don't let water pool) and gently rub away stains and dark spots, Bob Vila recommends. * If the label on the couch says no water, try using dry laundry soap and scrubbing away the stain with a soft bristled brush. Then vacuum up the remaining soap.
