1 tablespoon olive oil
1 pound Italian sausage, cut into bite-sized pieces
4 cups cabbage, cut into thin strips
2 medium carrots, peeled and grated
1 medium onion, diced
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 cup water
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. When hot, add Italian sausage pieces. Cook until sausage begins to brown.
Add the carrots and onions and cook for another 5 minutes, or until the onion is softened.
Put in the cabbage and cook until it starts to soften and the sausage is completely cooked through.
Add sugar and garlic powder, stir and cook for another 5 minutes.
Add water, cover and let simmer for about 5 more minutes, or until cabbage is entirely softened. Add salt and pepper and stir.
Cook for another minute before serving.
