Cooktop Cove: Now this is a dessert I can have every night of the week

How do you make brownies even better? Try pouring hot fudge sauce all over them! While you can just buy hot fudge sauce and use that, making it from scratch only takes about 10 minutes and a handful of ingredients. It's so much better than anything you could find in the store. Don't be surprised if after making the sauce, as in the recipe that follows, you regularly keep a couple of jars of it in your fridge.
It's that hot fudge sauce that makes these brownies even better. While on the subject of those brownies, those come from a box because if you're making your own hot fudge sauce, you can definitely use one little cheat. After the brownies are prepared and the sauce poured on top, you won't believe the deliciousness that comes out of your slow cooker. It's like hot lava cake but without any of the work or focus on cooking times. In short, it's really, really good!

3 hours, 5 minutes
2 tablespoons butter
2/3 cup heavy whipping cream
1/2 cup corn syrup
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 box fudge brownie mix
2/3 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup water
2 eggs
In a small saucepan set over medium heat, combine the butter, cream, cocoa and salt. Bring to a simmer, then let it simmer for 3 to 5 minutes.
Remove sauce from heat and stir in the chocolate chips until melted.
Add vanilla extract to the sauce and stir. Allow sauce to cool slightly.
Line a 6-quart slow cooker with a slow cooker liner or aluminum foil. Spray liberally with non-stick cooking spray.
In a large bowl combine the brownie mix, vegetable oil, 1/4 cup water and eggs. Mix well, then pour batter into the prepared slow cooker.
Pour the hot fudge sauce over the brownies and do not stir.
Place the lid on the slow cooker, then cook for 2 1/2 to 3 hours on high until the edges are set and the center is still slightly gooey.
Turn slow cooker off, remove lid and allow brownies to cool slightly before scooping out and serving.
