1/2 cup unsalted butter, plus 1 tablespoon
1 cup brown sugar
3 cups chocolate chips, divided
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup cake flour
1/3 cup unscented cocoa powder
1 tablespoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups milk
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and grease an 8" x 8" baking dish.
In a double boiler melt together 1/2 cup of butter, brown sugar, 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips.
Beat eggs lightly in a bowl.
When everything has melted together, ladle 1/4 of the chocolate mixture into the eggs. Then pour the entire egg mixture back into the chocolate mixture.
Add vanilla extract to the chocolate mixture.
In a large bowl whisk together the cake flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
Pour the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and fold together until fully combined.
Pour the brownie batter into the prepared dish.
Place into the oven and bake for 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Remove brownies from the oven and allow them to cool for at least 1 hour.
While the brownies are cooling, place the chocolate chips and butter in a large heatproof bowl.
In a small saucepan, bring the milk just to boiling. Then pour over the chocolate chips and butter and stir to incorporate all ingredients.
Slice and serve brownies, pouring some of the ganache over top.
