How to make the easiest two-ingredient doughnuts

Print this recipe
Doughnuts are indisputably delicious, and the endless possibilities when it comes to toppings means that they offer something for everyone. Though it seems impossible, we've found a way to improve doughnuts so you can make them in the comfort of your own kitchen.
Before you ask, no, this is not an overwrought recipe that is far too complex to actually try. Believe it or not, all you'll need for this recipe is two ingredients: canned biscuits and vegetable oil. If that doesn't speak to the lazy yet hungry chef in your soul, then I don't know what will.

Depending on how you choose to top your doughnuts, you may need a couple other ingredients, but there's no need for you to spend hours crafting complicated glazes or crumbles if you don't feel like it. These goodies can be as simple or as fancy as your heart desires.
To begin, gather your ingredients. Since there are only two of them — canned biscuits and vegetable oil — it shouldn't take too long.
Next, open the package of biscuit dough and separate the discs.
Take one of the dough discs and use an upside-down shot glass as a makeshift cookie cutter to remove the middle portion. It's okay if the hole isn't perfectly centered, but do your best.
That middle bit can be used to make doughnut holes later.
Then, cook your doughnuts (and doughnut holes) in the oil on medium heat until both sides are golden-brown.
Next, add whatever toppings you want. In the full tutorial below, they use cinnamon sugar as well as vanilla and chocolate glaze, but feel free to explore your creativity and satisfy that sweet tooth. Maple glaze with crumbled bacon bits is always a hit, and this list from Saveur has some genius and unorthodox glaze flavors you can attempt to replicate (hello, amaretto cherry!).
This recipe is fast and delicious, proving you CAN have your doughnut and eat it too. For the full step-by-step demonstration, be sure to check out the video below. Don't forget to SHARE this recipe with all the food lovers in your life!
