Sweet and spicy is that unique flavor combination that just goes together so well. Yet, while it may seem easy enough to add sweet ingredients and spicy ingredients together along with some meat, it's not quite that simple. Balancing both flavors can be a delicate and difficult process.
However, Scott Kustes of Real Food University has a unique recipe that delivers a barbecue style pork roast that's equal parts sweet, tangy, savory and spicy. The super-flavorful roast will have guests thinking you cooked this piece of meat carefully in some elaborate outdoor smoker, when all you did was toss it in your slow cooker!

Start out by chopping up a few apples and sweet potatoes. You could experiment here, maybe using a blend of sweeter red delicious apples and tart granny smith apples or even use a pear. Mix up your fruit and potatoes to get them ready for your pork roast.
You can place the entire pork roast on top of your bed of apples/sweet potatoes and the pork will help cook the sweet potatoes and apples while they in turn help flavor the meat.
Scott used a blend of honey, yellow mustard, chipotles, apple cider vinegar and garlic, but you can feel free to experiment and axe the chipotles if you prefer a less spicy sauce or add more chiles for an even spicier pork. Scott's blend seems to be well-balanced though, so you'll likely want to use that as a base.
Generously smother the pork in your sauce, allowing it to absorb the flavor.
Cover the pork and let it cook for about six to eight hours on low (perfect for those who want to go to work and have dinner ready and waiting when they come home!).
Once it's done cooking, plate it alongside your potatoes and apples or add a bed of brown rice to accompany your pork roast. Scott even drizzled on the extra sauce for even more flavor!
