Mexican food can be a real crowd pleaser, but some of the dishes can be hard to make at home without specific ingredients. Luckily, your slow cooker can help! These amazing Mexican shredded beef tacos can be made with ingredients and spices you might already have in your kitchen. Here's what you'll need:
1 (4 lb) chuck roast
1 tsp salt
1 tsp ground black pepper
2 tbsp olive oil
1 large onion, chopped
1 1/4 cups diced green chile pepper
1 tsp chili powder
1 tsp ground cayenne pepper
1 (5 oz) bottle hot pepper sauce

Begin by searing all sides of the chuck roast in a pan. Two tbsp of olive oil should be enough to thoroughly cover the pan. If you don't have the time to sear the meat, you don't have to -- but, according to All Recipes, it will significantly increase the flavor of the meat. You can also substitute the roast with chicken.
Once the meat is seared, place it in the slow cooker and add both the green chili and the chopped onion. Then add all the remaining ingredients -- the chili powder, hot sauce, and cayenne pepper. Then add enough water to fill the bottom of the pot and let the roast cook on high for four hours. After the four hours have passed, set the cooker to low for two more hours.
After time is up, separate the roast from the juices in the slow cooker and use two forks to shred the meat. According to All Recipes, the slow-cooking process breaks down the fat and connecting tissue in the roast -- so all that's left is delicious meat.
For even more flavor, you can add the beef to a frying pan and simmer with 1 cup of the cooking liquid from the slow cooker until the sauce thickens. This will add even more of an intense flavor to the beef, but will take additional time to prepare.
