How to make vegan General Tso's chik'n (video)

Print this recipe
General Tso's chicken is generally acknowledged as a traditional Hunanese dish -- but it isn't. It was actually created by a Chinese chef who fled to Taiwan after the Communist party took over China in 1949. The original recipe was based on Hunanese flavors, but when the chef moved to the United States he altered the recipe to better suit the American palate.
High Carb Hannah replaces chicken with cauliflower to veganize the typical General Tso's recipe, but loses none of its spicy-sweet flavor. Use the recipe below and watch the video to create this delicious, fat-free vegan dish.

1 cup flour (whatever kind you prefer)
1 cup water
1/2 head cauliflower florets (about 2 cups)
2 cups bread crumbs
General Tso Sauce
3 cloves garlic, minced

5. While cauliflower is baking, prepare sauce by thoroughly mixing all ingredients into a bowl. Set aside.
6. When cauliflower is finished baking, use tongs to dip each floret into the sauce and return to baking sheet.
7. Bake for another 15 minutes.
Serving suggestion: Serve General Tso's Chik'n over brown rice and stir-fry vegetables. Garnish with sesame seeds and an extra drizzle of sauce for an added punch of flavor. Enjoy!
