How to make slow cooker honey pineapple ham (video)

Print this recipe
Bacon gets all the love, but I prefer ham. It has the savory, smoky, salty goodness of bacon, but it’s not as greasy and can be eaten on its own or added to your favorite dishes without overpowering the other flavors. I make this slow-cooked ham glazed in a sweet-tart honey pineapple sauce on the weekend and eat the leftovers in sandwiches, on baked potatoes and in fried rice.
Since you buy ham fully cooked, you need only heat and flavor it before serving. The slow cooker keeps ham moist and gives it time to absorb the flavorful glaze. You don’t need to baste or rotate the ham; just cook and eat!

Slow Cooker Honey Pineapple Ham
5 minutes

4 hours, 5 minutes
1 teaspoon canola oil
2-pound boneless, spiral-cut, fully cooked ham
20-ounce can pineapple slices, juice reserved
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup brown sugar
30 whole toothpicks
Rub canola oil around interior of slow cooker.
In a medium bowl, mix honey, brown sugar and juice from canned pineapple to form a thick, sticky glaze.
Place ham in slow cooker. Pour glaze over the top.
Arrange pineapple rings over the surface of ham, attaching each slice with 3 toothpicks.
Cover and cook on low for 4 hours. Remove from slow cooker and allow to rest for 10 minutes before serving.
Pro tip: Reserve juices from the slow cooker. While ham rests, reduce them in a saucepan by bringing to a bare simmer, reducing heat to medium-low heat and cooking for 5 to 10 minutes, until thickened. Serve alongside ham.
Note: All slow cookers are a little bit different in temperature and calibration. This recipe was tested in Cooktop Cove's Test Kitchen using this slow cooker, which is available for purchase here.
