Chicken teriyaki is a favorite on any takeout menu, and many people think that because teriyaki a "fancy Japanese sauce," there's no way they could pull it off at home. Truthfully, teriyaki is simply soy sauce combined with a bit of sweet (usually honey and brown sugar) and sour (usually some type of vinegar). Add a little cornstarch as thickener, and it's on your plate in as little time as you want it to be.
Of course, chicken teriyaki can take a long time, too, when you make it in the slow cooker. But that way, you can come home and sit right down to a piping hot dinner. You may have to boil up some rice or noodles, but the majority of dinner will already be done for you.
