Sliders are such a great dish for a crowd, but they can be time-consuming to make on the stovetop or on a grill. After all, wouldn't you rather be hanging with your guests instead of flipping dozens of tiny burgers?
Luckily, there's actually a way that you can serve up sliders without having to spend tons of time at the stove: You can bake them as a casserole. Adding onion and butter directly to the burgers keeps them nice and moist while they bake. You can even do some of the prep for this casserole in advance, by preparing the miniburgers ahead of time. All you need to do is bake them when it's time to eat. Be sure to serve ramekins of ketchup and mustard on the side for dipping.

50 minutes
2 pounds ground beef
1/2 small onion, minced
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
12 hamburger buns
12 slices American cheese
12 rings red onion
4 tablespoons butter, divided
1 tomato, diced
Preheat the oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.
Combine the beef, onion, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper in a bowl. Form into 12 small patties.
Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over high heat. Sear the burgers on both sides so that they're nice and browned, about 1 minute per side.
Place the bottom half of the hamburger buns in a baking dish, and place one seared burger patty on each. Cut half of the butter into small bits, and top the burger patties with the butter.
Bake until the burgers are nice and golden brown, about 15 minutes.
Add the American cheese to the burgers. Butter the top halves of the buns, and place them buttered side up on a baking sheet. Bake the top buns and the casserole for 5 more minutes.
Remove the casserole and the buns from the oven. Sprinkle the sliders with tomato. Place a ring of red onion on top of each one. Top with the top bun halves and serve.
