1 cup butter
1 cup plus 2 teaspoons sugar
1 cup milk
1 cup self-rising flour
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 16-ounce can sliced peach halves in syrup
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
In a large bowl, mix the flour, 1 cup of the sugar and milk together until the mixture is smooth and has no lumps.
In a small bowl, mix together the remaining 2 teaspoons of sugar with the ground cinnamon. Set aside.
Place the butter in a 9-by-13-inch baking dish. Place the dish in the oven until the butter is melted. Do not allow the butter to brown.
Pour the batter over the melted butter, allowing it to naturally spread without stirring.
Pour the peaches into the baking dish, distributing evenly without stirring.
Sprinkle the peaches with the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 30 to 40 minutes, until the cobbler is golden brown.
