Even the most perfectly designed living space must be functional. Lamps and other electronic devices are essential parts of almost every room. But no one likes to see the jumble of cords.
You no longer have to move furniture closer to outlets just to hide those pesky cords. With these creative solutions, you can easily hide your electric and charging cords to create a tidy look in any room.
1. Stick on a cord clip (h/t Two Twenty One)
The jumble of cords next to your bed can be easily controlled with a handy cord clip. This handy item simply sticks on the back of your furniture to hold charger cords. As an added bonus, you don't have to go searching for a cord when it slips off the table.
2. Follow the outline of furniture (h/t Hi Sugarplum)
Command hooks work perfectly to help clip cords along the outline of furniture in order to hide them. Even the fanciest of tables can conceal your cords. Simply use clear Command hooks along the back and legs of the table to securely hold lamp cords.
3. Use a cord hider along baseboards and walls (h/t Thrifty Decor Chick)
This handy hollow tube allows you to thread electrical cords through it and keep them hidden along walls and baseboards. You can find it online or in your local hardware store's electrical supply section. It features a self-sticking flat edge to hold it in place. You can even paint it for a seamless look.
4. Grab some rope for a wrap (h/t The Vow)
Dabs of hot glue holds a rustic rope to an electric cord creating a cord that is on display. It is completely safe as cords are designed to be safely placed on carpets, rugs, and other surfaces. Now you don't have to worry about hiding the cord at all!
5. Shorten the cord without cutting it (h/t House Mix)
Many lamps feature a hollow space in the bottom. You can use this space to hold excess cord out of the way. Just remove the bottom, tape up the cord, and replace the bottom. No more coils of lamp cords to work around.
6. Create a false wall with wood pallets (h/t Minha Casa)
Despite living in a wireless world, most TV cords are still essential. You don't have to stare at them all day long. This wooden wall pallet creates texture and hides cords at the same time.
7. Get out the power tools (h/t In My Own Style)
Hiding cords inside walls can be a bit scary. But if you are sure of your furniture and television placement, this tutorial shows how easy it can be. All you have to do is drill two holes and use a wall and power cable kit to tuck the cords away. No home improvement skills needed.
8. Keep it ready for use (h/t Dimplicity)
Some applicances don't need to be plugged in all the time, but what to do with that cord? Command makes a cord bundler perfect for corraling cords and keeping them out of sight. They stick almost everywhere, but come off neatly when you need to remove.
9. Add a basket under your desk (h/t Life Hacker)
There's no reason to have a dozen cords hanging down from your desk. By installing a wire basket to the underside with a power strip in it, you can keep cords tucked up and out of sight. Labeling the cords will help you easily see which cord is which.
