Slow cooker chicken and noodles

As comfort food goes, chicken and noodles is at the top of my list! Since making it from scratch the traditional way can take some time and planning, I have devised a way to make this one pot version in the slow cooker. I think you are going to love it! I think your family will ask you for it often and when you sit down to enjoy this, I hope you are filled with happy memories from a time gone by!
To make my one pot chicken and noodles you will need the following ingredients:

2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breast
1 medium onion, diced
4 stalks of celery, sliced
4 carrots, sliced
2 cloves of garlic, minced
4 cups chicken stock
2 cups water
1 cup heavy cream
1 tablespoons all purpose flour
1 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon salt
1 teaspoon cracked black pepper
1 teaspoon onion powder
2 teaspoons poultry seasoning
2 teaspoons dried parsley flakes
16 ounces wide egg noodles

Instructions
1) Add chicken to the slow cooker.
2) Add celery, onion, carrot and garlic on top of the chicken.
3) Add the chicken stock.
4) Add the spices to the slow cooker.
5) Give everything a good stir to combine.
6) At this point, put the lid on your slow cooker and set it. Cook this on high for 4 to 5 hours or on low 6 to 8 hours.
7) When the chicken is tender and breaks apart easily, remove it from the slow cooker and shred.
8) Return the shredded chicken to the slow cooker.
9) Add the water.

11) Add the egg noodles and stir well making sure that the noodles are covered with liquid. If you need to, you can add an additional cup of water.
12) Return lid to the slow cooker and allow to cook for an additional 30 minutes or until the noodles are soft.
13) While the noodles are cooking make your thickener by mashing the flour into the butter with a fork to create a paste.
The resulting paste should look like this:
15) When the noodles are done, add the flour and butter mixture to the slow cooker and stir well to distribute. You should almost immediately notice the mixture thickening to make a lovely gravy.
Your one pot, slow cooker, chicken and noodles is ready to serve! Alternatively you can cook the pasta separately and add them to the slow cooker after the gravy is thickened. Many people enjoy serving this over mashed potatoes for super carb comfort food!
