7 tips to follow when you're making omelettes

Omelettes are delicious - fluffy eggs folded over your favorite fillings . Despite how easy they look to make, omelettes do not always turn out the way that you want. There are several reasons why making omelettes can turn out to be messier than you think.
To get the perfect omelette you were hoping for each and every time, here are a few tips. Once you know them, you'll be turning out omelettes like a pro!

1. Use a non-stick pan
While non-stick pans are not ideal for searing meat, they are perfect for omelettes. A non-stick pan makes it easy to lift up an omelette from the pan and to flip it. If you don't use a non-stick pan, the eggs will likely stick to the bottom of the pan, and maybe even burn, making it impossible to lift and flip.
2. Beat the eggs with milk or cream
When you make an omelette, beat the eggs outside the pan that you will be cooking then min. This will let you get some air into them. Whip the eggs lightly to get them fluffy before pouring the mixture into the pan.
Start by breaking three eggs per omelette into a bowl and using a whisk or fork to vigorously beat the eggs until you no longer see any of the egg white left. Add a splash of milk or cream too, as this will make them light, and airy.
3. Use butter first
Even when you use a non-stick pan, you should melt some butter in it before adding your eggs. This will not only give you some extra insurance that the eggs will not stick to the pan, but it will also give the omelette a nice rich taste. When adding butter to the pan, heat the pan first over medium heat and then add a tablespoon or two of butter. Wait until it melts, froths, and the bubbles die down, and then add the beaten eggs.

4. Let the eggs set slightly
After you pour the eggs into the pan, they will fill up the bottom of the pan and start to cook. In order to get an unbroken omelette, let the eggs cook for three to four minutes so they can form an omelette. This will make them firmer and easier to fold and flip.
5. Add the toppings
Once the eggs are set, add toppings. Precook toppings such as bacon, mushrooms, and onions before you add them to the omelette. Add toppings on one side, and then sprinkle cheese on top. The cheese will act like a glue holding the toppings to the eggs.

6. Fold the omelette
Folding the omelette so that one layer of the egg lies perfectly folded over delicious toppings, is a fine art. Start by sliding a rubber spatula between the side of the eggs and the side of the pan. Holding the rubber spatula close to the bottom and sides of the pan, continue sliding it around the entire edge of the egg to loosen it. Then slide the spatula all the way under one side of the egg and raise it up and fold it over the toppings on the other side. Allow the egg to cook for just another minute so everything can cook and set together.

7. Tip the omelette out onto a plate
After the omelette has cooked through, you could try to pick it up with a spatula to transfer it onto a plate. But there's a good chance then that the omelette will break in half. To prevent that from happening, shake the pan gently to loosen the omelette from the side of the pan and slide the omelette to the edge of the pan. Holding the skillet slightly over the plate, gently tip the omelette out onto the plate.
