There's nothing like a delicious baked good made with apples. The smell of cooking apples is one of my favorites, and if the cooking is being done in a slow cooker, all the better. You just can't beat the taste of baked apples.
These videos show a variety of ways you can cook scrumptious-tasting apple dishes in a slow cooker, so wipe the drool from your lips and let's start baking.
1. Slow cooker apple crisp
Dessert is always in season, but who wants to heat up the kitchen on a hot summer evening? Fruit crisps are crowd pleasers, but they're usually made in the oven. Instead, keep your house cool while making a delicious apple crisp in the slow cooker, which is sure to delight your family without leaving you feeling overheated and exhausted.
2. Slow cooker applesauce
Make a big batch of applesauce in a slow cooker with help from the recipe below. It freezes beautifully and can be used in so many ways. Pull it out to eat as a snack, use it in apple cake or replace the fat in any baked good. It's definitely handy to have around, and the aroma of apples and cinnamon wafting through the house aren't bad, either.
3. Slow cooker apple and cinnamon oatmeal
Oatmeal made with steel-cut oats has a different texture to that of rolled or quick oats. But cooking steel-cut oats can take a long time because they're whole and need a while to break down. If you don't have that kind of time in the morning, make it the night before with the recipe below.
4. Slow cooker caramel apple pudding cake
Of all the things you could make in a slow cooker, this cake might become a favorite. It's partly getting to enjoy something that's sweet and delicious and partly the sheer amazement that comes with removing baked goods from a slow cooker. Sometimes, as in the recipe below, you never really know how it all comes together.
5. Slow cooker fried apples
When it comes to simple and delicious desserts, nothing beats the recipe below. Thin slices of apples are covered in butter, sugar and spices before bubbling away in a slow cooker and filling the house with the aromas of fall. When they've finished cooking, you can top them with whipped cream or use them as a side dish for pork instead of applesauce. Whatever you decide to use them for, this is a recipe you'll keep making.
