Most people use baby oil to keep their baby's (or their own) skin soft and smooth. For this reason, people without babies probably don't keep a bottle of baby oil around the house and use other products instead. But soft skin isn't the only use for baby oil.
Whether you're doing a little cleaning, fixing up minor appliances or just trying to keep your things nice, baby oil will come in handy. The best part is that you don't need to use very much for it to be effective, so it will take a while for you to run out.

Fix a stuck zipper
Try a little baby oil to nudge a stuck zipper back into action. Use a cotton swab to apply a small amount of oil to the area, then gently work the zipper back and forth to release it.

Prolong the life of your razor
After you've had a razor for a while, the blades tend to leave behind red bumps on your skin. This usually means it's time to replace the blade, but that can become expensive if you shave frequently. Keep blades sharp by cleaning the razor after each use and letting the blades soak in baby oil between uses. The baby oil will help the blades stay sharp and rust-free.

Remove gum from hair
For those of you with thick hair, few things are worse than getting gum or anything sticky in your hair. Most people try to remove it with peanut butter or just give up and cut off that chunk of hair. But if you want a quicker way to get rid of the gum and keep your lovely locks, use baby oil. Just put a few drops on your fingers and rub over the gum until it softens and slides out of your hair.

Silence a squeaky door
Whether you're a teenager trying to sneak in after curfew or a parent needing to slip silently out of your sleeping infant's room, a squeaky door is your enemy. Although WD-40 is always an option, a cheaper way exists to get rid of an annoying squeak. Just squeeze a few drops of baby oil onto a cotton ball and rub it over the door hinges.

Soften ear wax buildup
Apply a few drops of baby oil into your ear to soften built-up ear wax. Use a dropper; the American Academy of Otolaryngology says to never insert any item, such as a cotton swab or cloth, into the ear canal itself.

Untangle a necklace
Have you ever grabbed a favorite necklace out of the jewelry box only to discover the chain is tangled? You could spend several minutes using your fingers or a knife to untangle it, but there is an easier way. Pour a few drops of baby oil onto the chain and then pull out the tangle. The baby oil will make it easier for the chain links to move through each other, allowing you to slide them around until the tangle is gone.

Polish stainless steel
Stainless steel sinks and appliances can either look really nice or be a mess thanks to fingerprints. Fortunately, there are several ways to keep stainless steel clean. Unfortunately, most of these require several steps and a lot of scrubbing. Baby oil, however, is a one-step solution for cleaning stainless steel. Pour a little onto a microfiber cloth and simply wipe the stainless steel. You'll have your appliances shiny and clean in no time.
