Hard cider is the quintessential fall recipe. It will warm you up and is one of the most perfect ways to enjoy cocktail hour on those cooler evenings. It needn't be reserved for just the fall, either. The recipe that follows is so flavorful, you may find yourself making it all year round. As an added bonus, it will also impart a deliciously spicy, sweet smell that will fill up the entire house.
Hard apple cider cannot be spoken of, though, without mentioning the hard liquor that goes in at the very end. Don't like bourbon? Try gin, rum, cognac or cinnamon schnapps, which will play nicely with the apple flavor. Just don't forget to add it only at the very end. Otherwise, that alcohol may lose some of its potency, giving you a softer apple cider in its place.
