Kielbasa is a Polish-style sausage (the word means sausage in the Polish language) usually made of pork or a combination of pork and beef that's then lightly smoked. You can substitute any smoked sausage for the kielbasa, though, because the flavors of the sausage shine in this simple dish.

Kielbasa, potatoes, and cabbage

1/2 head cabbage, thickly sliced
1 Russet potato, diced
1 large onion, thinly sliced
2 pounds kielbasa, cut into 1-inch pieces
1 1/2 cups chicken broth
1 teaspoon kosher salt
Put all of the ingredients in the slow cooker, and toss until combined.
Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or on high for 4 hours.
Serve hot.
