There's something special about sitting down to a holiday meal with loved ones, and few dishes evoke the warmth and comfort of such occasions as a classic honey baked ham. Tender, succulent, and glazed to perfection, this iconic centerpiece has been a staple of festive feasts for generations. But what if I told you that you don't need to wait for a special occasion to enjoy this delicious dish? With the ease and convenience of a slow cooker, you can bring the magic of honey baked ham to your table any day of the year.
One of my fondest memories is of my grandmother's kitchen, filled with the mouthwatering aroma of her signature honey baked ham. It was the star of our holiday dinners, and no matter how many dishes were on the table, the ham was always the first to disappear. I remember watching in awe as she basted the ham with her homemade honey glaze, and the anticipation I felt as I waited for it to emerge from the oven, glistening and golden. Years later, I've discovered the joy of recreating this cherished recipe in my own kitchen, using a slow cooker to achieve the same tender, flavorful results with minimal effort. Trust me, this is a recipe you'll want to save and make time and time again.

Recipe: Slow Cooker Honey Baked Ham
Ingredients:
1 bone-in spiral sliced ham (~7 pounds)
1/4 cup honey
1 cup light brown sugar
2 tablespoons melted butter
1/2 teaspoon each of ground cinnamon and garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
1. Unwrap the spiral sliced ham and place it in the slow cooker, with the cut side down.
2. In a mixing bowl, combine the honey and melted butter. Rub over ham.
3. Set the slow cooker to low heat and cook the ham for 4 to 6 hours. Cooking times may vary depending on the slow cooker's model, so it's essential to check the internal temperature occasionally.
4. Near end of cooking time, preheat the broiler. In a small bowl, combine light brown sugar, garlic powder, ground cinnamon, ground cloves, paprika, and salt. Mix the ingredients thoroughly. Take half of this mixture and gently press it onto the top of the ham.
5. Broil ham for about 3 minutes until the glaze becomes bubbly and caramelized. Once done, take it out of the oven.
6. Now, take the remaining sugar mixture and place it in a small saucepan. Place the saucepan over medium heat. Add 3 tablespoons of the liquid from the slow cooker where the ham was cooking (or use water). Stir occasionally and bring the mixture to a boil.
7. Allow it to boil for about 1 minute, then remove the saucepan from the heat. Use the glaze to brush over the ham, ensuring it's evenly coated. Put the ham back under the broiler for a brief 1-2 minutes to enhance the glaze's flavors.
