Slow Cooker Sweet Chili Dim Sum is a delightful and flavorful dish that brings together the best of Chinese cuisine and the convenience of slow cooking. Dim sum, which means "touch your heart" in Cantonese, is a traditional Chinese culinary art that originated in Southern China. These small, bite-sized treats are typically served in bamboo steamers and enjoyed with tea. This recipe adds a modern twist to the traditional dim sum experience by combining a sweet and mildly spicy chili sauce with dim sum. The slow cooker method allows the flavors to develop over time, resulting in a dish that is both rich in taste and incredibly tender.
The tender and succulent dim sum can be enjoyed on its own as a main course for a delicious and satisfying meal. However, they also make for a delightful appetizer or snack at social gatherings or dinner parties. To create a complete meal, serve the dim sum over steamed jasmine rice or alongside a bowl of warm and comforting noodles. For a complete Chinese-inspired spread, pair the dim sum with traditional sides such as steamed vegetables, stir-fried bok choy, or a refreshing cucumber salad.
