Kentucky Apple Cake Recipe:
Ingredients:
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/4 cup buttermilk
2-3 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon real vanilla extract
2 cups sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 sticks margarine
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3 cups finely chopped apples
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon light corn syrup
2 cups chopped walnuts
For the glaze:
1/2 cup margarine
1 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup real vanilla extract
Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking pan.
2. In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs, then add the cinnamon, buttermilk, milk, and real vanilla extract. Mix well.
3. In a separate bowl, sift together the sugar, baking powder, and baking soda. Add this dry mixture to the egg mixture.
4. Melt the margarine and, then stir it into the batter.
5. Gradually add the all-purpose flour and mix until well combined.
6. Fold in the finely chopped apples, salt, light corn syrup, and chopped walnuts.
7. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
8. Bake in the preheated oven for about 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
