Ingredients:
8-pound ham, bone-in and spiral sliced
1.5 cups of granulated sugar
2 tablespoons of melted butter
3 tablespoons of honey
1/2 teaspoon of seasoned salt
1/2 teaspoon of onion powder
1/2 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon each of paprika, ground ginger, and ground cloves
A small amount of allspice, just a pinch
Instructions:
1. Place the spiral sliced ham in the slow cooker.
2. In a bowl, mix together melted butter and honey. Pour this mixture over the ham.
3. Cover and cook ham on low for 4-5 hours. When slow cooker is almost done, preheat broiler to high. Line a roasting pan with foil.
4. In another bowl, combine granulated sugar, seasoned salt, onion powder, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, ground ginger, ground cloves, paprika, and a pinch of allspice. Pour half of this mixture over ham.
5. Broil for several minutes until caramelized.
In a small saucepan, combine the remaining sugar mixture with 3 tablespoons of either water or ham juices from the slow cooker. Optionally, you can use a mixture of water, ham juices, and bourbon for added flavor. Bring to a boil and simmer for about a minute, then remove from heat.
Brush or pour the glaze over the ham.
Broil for about 1-2 minutes, being careful not to let it burn.
Remove from the oven and allow the ham to rest for a few minutes before serving.
