Philly Cheesesteak Casserole combines the iconic flavors of a classic Philadelphia cheesesteak sandwich with the homey comfort of a casserole. Originating from the bustling city of Philadelphia, the cheesesteak is a long-standing culinary staple that features thinly sliced, sautéed ribeye beef, melted cheese, and a crusty hoagie roll. By transforming these signature ingredients into a casserole, this dish provides an innovative twist on tradition, perfect for family dinners or group gatherings where a filling, satisfying meal is desired.
When serving this Philly Cheesesteak Casserole, you have a variety of sides to choose from. A light and crisp green salad dressed in a simple vinaigrette can offset the richness of the casserole, or you might opt for a side of roasted vegetables to sneak in some extra nutrients. Some garlic bread or soft dinner rolls are perfect for sopping up any cheesy goodness left on the plate. Depending on your preferences, you could even serve it with a side of traditional coleslaw or a small bowl of pickles for a tangy contrast.

Philly Cheesesteak Casserole
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1 pound ribeye steak, thinly sliced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 cups shredded provolone cheese
- 4 large eggs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
- Optional toppings: chopped pickled jalapeños, sautéed mushrooms, or additional shredded cheese
Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onions and bell peppers, and sauté until they are tender and start to caramelize, about 8-10 minutes.
3. Increase the heat to medium-high and add the sliced ribeye steak to the skillet. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Cook until the steak is just browned. Remove from heat and set aside.
4. Lay the crescent roll dough flat on the bottom of the greased baking dish, pinching any seams to seal.
5. Sprinkle half of the shredded provolone cheese over the crescent roll dough.
6. Layer the sautéed steak, onions, and bell peppers on top of the cheese.
7. In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk until well combined. Pour this mixture evenly over the steak and vegetables.
8. Top with the remaining shredded provolone cheese and any optional toppings you desire.
9. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the crescent dough is golden brown and the filling is set.
