Slow Cooker Mississippi Chicken Sliders are a down-home comfort food that takes its cues from the classic Mississippi roast. Originating from the Southern heartland, this dish is all about simple ingredients coming together to create something deeply satisfying. Nestled between soft, warm buns, this tender, flavorful chicken is a big hug on a plate. It’s the perfect meal for busy weekdays, potlucks, or whenever you need a little extra warmth at the dinner table. Families adore it, and I bet yours will too, with its juicy chicken and tangy, buttery sauce that kiddos and grown-ups alike just can't resist.
Pair these delightful sliders with some refreshing coleslaw, a nice crispy salad, or even some baked beans to keep the comfort coming. And for a little extra crunch, some pickles on the side wouldn't go amiss. If you're looking for a more wholesome route, try a side of steamed veggies or some sweet potato fries.

Slow Cooker Mississippi Chicken Sliders
Servings: Makes about 12 sliders
Ingredients:
- 3 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 packet ranch dressing mix (about 1 oz)
- 1 packet au jus gravy mix (about 1 oz)
- 6 pepperoncini peppers
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 12 slider buns, split and toasted
- Provolone cheese slices (optional)
- 1/2 cup water
Directions:
1. Place chicken breasts in the slow cooker. Sprinkle the ranch dressing mix and au jus gravy mix evenly over the chicken.
2. Add the pepperoncini peppers around the chicken. You can add a little of the pepperoncini juice for an extra flavor kick if you like!
3. Pour the water into the cooker (try not to wash off the seasoning on the chicken).
4. Cut the butter into small cubes and place on top of the chicken.
5. Cover and cook on low for about 6-8 hours, or on high for 4 hours, until the chicken is tender and falls apart easily.
6. Shred the chicken in the slow cooker with two forks and stir it to soak up all the delicious juices.
7. To assemble the sliders, scoop a generous amount of the shredded chicken mixture onto the bottom half of each slider bun. If using, add a slice of provolone cheese.
8. Top with the other half of the bun, and serve warm, nestled next to your chosen sides.
Variations & Tips:

- For those who may not enjoy spice, you can leave out the pepperoncini peppers or use milder banana peppers.
- If you'd like to cut back on sodium, look for low-sodium versions of the ranch and au jus mix packets.
- Feel free to add some crispy bacon or a slice of tomato for an extra layer of flavor and texture.
- Keep leftovers in airtight containers; they reheat wonderfully for a quick lunch or snack.
- As for the buns, go ahead and use your family's favorite, whether that's potato rolls, wheat, or even a gluten-free option. This recipe is all about making it your own!
- And here's a little tip, if you've got any vegetarians in the family, simply swap out the chicken for a meat alternative like jackfruit or a plant-based "chicken," and use vegetarian gravy mix.
