When I need a dinner that feels fun, filling, and almost suspiciously easy, this oven baked 4-ingredient pepperoni pizza pasta is one of my go-to recipes. It has all those classic pizza flavors packed into a bubbly baked pasta dish, and it is perfect for busy weeknights when I do not want to juggle a long ingredient list. The combination of rotini, pasta sauce, mozzarella, and pepperoni turns into something that tastes like comfort food with very little effort, which is probably why it disappears so fast at my house.

This pasta is rich and hearty enough to stand on its own, but I love serving it with a simple green salad or steamed broccoli to balance out the cheesy, saucy flavors. Garlic bread is always a good idea if you want to lean all the way into comfort food, and for drinks, sparkling water, iced tea, or a casual red wine all pair nicely with the pizza-inspired flavors.

Ingredients

12 ounces rotini pasta

24 ounces pasta sauce
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
4 ounces sliced pepperoni

Directions

1. Preheat the oven to 375°F. Cook the rotini in salted water according to the package directions until just al dente, then drain well.

2. Return the drained pasta to the pot or place it in a large mixing bowl. Stir in the pasta sauce, 1 1/2 cups of the mozzarella, and half of the pepperoni until everything is evenly coated.

3. Transfer the mixture to a foil tray or baking dish and spread it into an even layer. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella over the top, then add the rest of the pepperoni slices.

4. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the pepperoni is slightly crisp around the edges.

5. Let the pasta rest for about 5 minutes before serving so the cheese settles slightly. Spoon onto plates and serve warm.

Variations & Tips

Make it extra cheesy: If your family loves a really gooey pasta bake, add an extra 1/2 to 1 cup of mozzarella. I sometimes do this when I know we want leftovers, because it reheats beautifully.

Try a different pasta shape: Penne, ziti, or medium shells all work well here. Rotini is great because the sauce gets tucked into every little spiral, but this recipe is flexible if that is not what you have in the pantry.

Add a little seasoning: Even though this is meant to stay super simple, a sprinkle of Italian seasoning, garlic powder, or red pepper flakes can give it a little extra personality without changing the easy vibe of the dish.

Use it for meal prep: You can assemble the pasta a few hours ahead, cover it, and refrigerate until you are ready to bake. If baking straight from the fridge, add a few extra minutes so it heats all the way through.

Keep the pasta from getting soft: Cook the rotini just to al dente before baking since it will continue to soften in the oven. That small step makes a big difference in keeping the finished casserole from turning mushy.
