Cooktop Cove: How to make Oreo cake vodka trufflesÂ
By Henry Cannon
Oreo recently celebrated 100 years of being America's favorite cookie, and to commemorate the feat they released a special edition of Oreos with a birthday cake filling. Now they're a staple on shelves in grocery stores everywhere, along with numerous other flavors and twists on the original cookie. Aside from being enjoyed on their own or with a glass of milk, Oreos can also be used in baking.
Jennifer Johns, the brains behind the popular YouTube channel Cookies, Cupcakes, and Cardio, commemorated Oreo's 100th birthday with a delectable dessert featuring the birthday cake cookies. Her Oreo cake vodka truffles were a hit with viewers, many of whom were eager to replicate the recipe. Said recipe is simple to follow and only requires a handful of ingredients.
To start, crush Oreos in a food processor.
Mix the processed Oreos with a block of cream cheese. Feel free to get your hands dirty - or you can use a mixer.
Next, roll the mix into balls and place them on a baking tray, leaving adequate space between each one.
Mix melted chocolate with 1 tablespoon of vodka increments until you achieve a smooth consistency. It's worth noting that the vodka is optional - the dessert will still be quite scrumptious without the inclusion of alcohol.
Roll the Oreo balls in the chocolate and vodka mix and let them dry on a rack. Add sprinkles for some color and enjoy!
