If you've ever taken a cruise or been in a restaurant where a flaming dessert was being served, you may have wondered how you could make something like that at home. Now you can with the bananas foster recipe below!
Traditionally, bananas foster is made on the stove, finished with a splash of liqueur (often dark rum), and set ablaze. While flaming liqueurs add a dramatic flair and a rich, alcohol-free flavor, you might want to try the simplified version below instead. Your slow cooker offers a great way to make this classic dish without standing over a hot stove, too. So, let's get cooking!
Slow cooker bananas fosterServings: 4
Prep Time: 10 mins
Cook Time: 2 hrs, 30 mins
Total Time: 2 hrs, 40 mins
Ingredients4 bananas, cut 2" wide
1 cup dark brown sugar
1 stick butter, small diced
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 white rum
1/4 water
Instructions1. In a 6-quart slow cooker, add in everything except bananas. Mix well.

2. Add in bananas. Gently toss with your fingers, so bananas don't get smashed.

3. Cook on high for 2 hours 30 minutes. Gently mix. If you like the consistency and texture of bananas, you're all done! If not, cook further until you've reached your desired texture.

4. Serve over your favorite vanilla ice cream and throw your hands in the air!
Tip: If there is any dessert leftover, which is doubtful, refrigerate and use as a pancake or waffle topping the next morning.
