My husband and I received a KitchenAid when we got married almost 12 years ago, and I love it. We use it all the time. As much fun as it is to have a one-stop-shop tool for most of your baking needs, there are still a few ways to make it work just a little better, at least according to some of these hacks I found.
Check out a few of these interesting tips and let us know how they worked for you.
1. Use your Kitchen Aid to store stuffWe live in an apartment so space is at a premium. We store several of the attachments inside the bowl of the KitchenAid to save space elsewhere.
2. Keep it cleanKeep the bowl of your KitchenAid clean by covering it with a shower cap. It's cheap and it's easy to reuse.
3. Warm it upIf your gadget feels a little funky when you turn it on after a few days, let it run for a minute or two to warm up to let the food-grade lubricant to get loose and ready to work.

Use an ice cream lid to keep messes in checkWhile some KitchenAids come with attachments to help keep flour and sugar from flying all over the kitchen, they aren't perfect. (I learned this the hard way). Try cutting a hole in the center of a plastic lid from an ice cream gallon. Slip it over your beater (see image at the top) and mix, as usual,

Try a towel instead (h/t Krazy Coupon Lady)If you don't have a lid available, try tossing a towel over the top of your KitchenAid instead.

Make your KitchenAid easier to moveWhile handy, these babies can be pretty awkward to shove around the counter. Try slipping a dish cloth under the bottom of the KitchenAid to make it easier to slide. Or if you're feeling... adventurous, replace the foot pads with marbles.

Make Butter in your KitchenAid MixerForget using a butter churn, you can get the same results (much faster and with less arm strain) with your KitchenAid. All you need is Buttermilk and water. Check out the full tutorial from

Make your own flourYou can buy a grain mill attachment that hooks to the front of your KitchenAid stand. Choose the coarseness of your grain (by twisting a knob), add grains inside the mill and turn on the KitchenAid. You can even use it to make cracked wheat! You can portion control so that your flour is fresh every time. Check out this video from

Know your KitchenAidYour Kitchen Aid can probably do more than you think. We had ours for two years before we realized we had gadgets included that let us grind meat and shred cheese!
