Your kitchen cabinets are often the most visual part of the room and the first thing guests notice when they walk in, so it's best to never leave your cabinets looking grungy or dirty.
Instead, keep your cabinets clean, sparkly and looking new. No matter what your cabinets are made of, it's not that difficult to bring back a fresh look. All you have to do is decide which tips work best for you, then start cleaning!
1. Vinegar Vinegar is ideal to have on hand for cleaning, especially if you're trying to remove grease from a surface -- and your kitchen cabinets definitely see their fair share of grease. Mix a 50/50 solution of vinegar and warm water in a spray bottle and spray it on your cabinet doors. Let it sit for a couple of minutes before wiping it off with a clean, soft cloth.
2. Dish soapDish soap is not exactly known to be used as a cleaning agent on cabinets, but it's time you give it a try. Add a little bit of liquid dish soap to warm water, dip in a soft cloth and scrub your cabinets. Use another cloth (dampened with just water) to rinse away the dish soap, and finish by drying everything with a dry cloth.
3. Oil soapWhen you need to remove caked-on grease or food from your cabinets, oil soap is one of the strongest cleaners possible. Rub it on your cabinets with a soft cloth until the grease or food is gone, and then make another pass with a clean cloth to remove any oil residue.
4. IceTo remove sticky or gooey foods from your cabinets, put a few ice cubes in a Ziploc bag and hold it over the spot until it hardens. Use a plastic knife or a spoon to scrape off the food. If there is still food stuck on the cabinet, scrub over it with a paste made from vinegar and salt.
5. Baking soda and coconut oil (h/t One Good Thing)Mix 1 part coconut oil with 2 parts baking soda until a slightly thick paste forms. Use a sponge (or your fingers) to rub the mixture onto your cabinets. If you have grooves in the cabinet that are difficult to clean, scrub those areas with an old toothbrush. When you're finished scrubbing, wipe everything off with a damp cloth.
6. Clorox (h/t Clorox)If you need to clean and disinfect your cabinets, bring in the tough stuff. Mix 1/2 cup of Clorox bleach into 1 gallon of water, and use a sponge to scrub this mixture onto your cabinets. Allow it to sit for 5 minutes to let it disinfect the cabinets before rinsing with warm water. Finish by letting the cabinets air dry.
