Cooktop Cove: Dump cheese and tomato over beef & prepare this abundant idea
By Audrey Michels
Are you tired of the same old dips? Can’t face another dish of hummus, salsa, or ranch? Well, fear not, because this hot, bubbling, bacon cheeseburger dip is nothing if not exciting: full of savory flavor, melted cheese, and almost as satisfying as digging into a juicy cheeseburger!
The genius of this dip lies in the method of preparation. Because this only takes about 20 minutes of active prep time, and then a few hours in the slow-cooker, so you can let it simmer away while you prepare the rest of the food. Whether you serve it with slices of toasted hamburger bun or some basic crackers, this dip is sure to impress.

2 hours 50 minutes
8 slices bacon
1/2lb lean ground beef
8oz cream cheese
8oz cheddar cheese, shredded
10oz can diced tomatoes
½ teaspoon dried oregano
Crackers or vegetable sticks for dipping
In a large skillet over a medium high heat, cook the bacon until crispy. Transfer to a plate lined with paper towel to drain. Pat dry, then using a knife or fingers or a food processor, crumble the bacon into bits.
Return the skillet to the heat and add the beef. Cook for 5-7 minutes, or until browned throughout. Drain excess liquid from the pan and then reduce the heat to low.
Add the cream cheese, cheddar cheese, canned tomatoes, dried oregano and crumbled bacon. Stir until well mixed and the cheese has begun to melt.
Pour mixture into a slow cooker and cover. Cook on low for 2-3 hours, or until bubbly around the edges.
Transfer to a serving dish and serve immediately with crackers or vegetable sticks for dipping.
