The Slow Cooker S'mores Cake is a delightful twist on the classic campfire treat. Originating from the United States, s'mores typically consist of a roasted marshmallow and a piece of chocolate sandwiched between two graham crackers. The name 's'mores' is a contraction of the phrase "some more," an indication of its irresistible nature. This slow cooker adaptation captures the gooey chocolate and marshmallow essence of the traditional s'mores, but transforms it into a shareable cake form that is perfect for gatherings or family dessert time. This Slow Cooker S'mores Cake recipe simplifies the process, making use of a convenient chocolate cake mix and incorporating the beloved flavors into an easy-to-prepare dessert that slow cooks to perfection.
Serving the Slow Cooker S'mores Cake is in itself a celebration of nostalgia and sweetness. The cake is best enjoyed warm, allowing the chocolate chips and mini marshmallows to be delightfully melty and gooey. Vanilla ice cream makes an excellent companion to this cake, providing a cool contrast to the warm, rich chocolate. Fresh strawberries or raspberries can also be an exquisite addition, contributing a tart freshness that balances the sweetness of the marshmallow and chocolate. Whether enjoyed at a casual backyard get-together, a cozy family movie night, or as a stress-free dessert during the holidays, this cake is sure to comfort and delight.
Slow Cooker S'mores Cake
Ingredients:
- 1 box of chocolate cake mix (and any ingredients it requires, such as eggs, oil, and water)
- 1 cup of mini marshmallows
- 1 cup of chocolate chips
- 3 tablespoons of milk
- 1/2 cup of graham cracker crumbs (optional for additional texture)
- Non-stick cooking spray
Instructions:
1. Prepare the chocolate cake mix according to the package instructions in a mixing bowl.
2. Spray the inside of the slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
3. Pour the cake batter into the slow cooker.
4. Evenly sprinkle the chocolate chips and mini marshmallows over the top of the cake batter. If you're including graham cracker crumbs, sprinkle those over the mix as well.
5. Cover and cook on low for 2.5 to 3 hours. Keep an eye on it after the 2-hour mark to ensure it doesn't overcook, as slow cooker temperatures can vary. The cake is done when you can insert a toothpick into the center and it comes out clean.
6. Once cooked, turn off the slow cooker and let the cake set for approximately 10 minutes.
7. Serve warm with a drizzle of milk over each portion for added moisture if desired, and pair with your chosen sides.
Enjoy the sinfully delicious Slow Cooker S'mores Cake as a decadent ending to any meal or as a delightful treat to satisfy your chocolate cravings any time of the year.
